Canadian Citizenship

Apply for Canadian citizenship once you meet the physical presence requirement.

Reviewed by a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (licensed by the CICC)Last updated:

Permanent residents can apply for Canadian citizenship if they have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days in the five years before applying, have filed taxes when required, and meet the language and knowledge requirements for their age.

Errors in travel history and day counts are one of the most common reasons for delays. We check your calculation and documents before you submit.

Frequently asked questions

Does time before PR count?

Some time spent in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person before PR can count as half days, up to a limit. We calculate this for you.

Do I lose my other citizenship?

Canada allows dual citizenship, but your other country may not. Check the rules of your country of citizenship.

We never guarantee approvals. Only Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) makes decisions on applications.
